Bio
Herald Sargent (Sarge) Haskell
brief bio
Sarge Haskell is the Pastor of Family Worship Center of Salem, located in Salem, Oregon. He is ordained through World Evangelism Fellowship, headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Graduating from Minnehaha Academy in 1965, Sarge enlisted in the US Army and was discharged in 1969. He married his high school sweetheart while on leave between Germany and Viet Nam, in 1968. Barbara suffered a massive stroke in 2021, and is now with her Savior and enjoying eternal life in heaven. They were married 53 years, have 2 children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
After a 40+ year career as a real estate appraiser, Sarge now spends his time ministering at church, as well as pursuing a life-long love of music. You will find him either studying, or recording, mixing, and mastering music in his studio.
Sarge is a preacher's kid who was determined to find his own way in life; apart and separate from his parents influence. His "own way in life" caught up with him through alcohol, rock-n-roll, and self-inflicted wounds, and nearly cost him his life and marriage. But more importantly, it nearly cost him his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. By His mercy and grace, Sarge re-dedicated his life to the Lord, and has served Him for the past 45 years.
Always a fan of the blues, you will find covers of a few of his favorites, with some words rewritten. The rewritten words are intended to turn the "blues" into the "good news." He is in the process of recording some original music, as well as rearranged gospel songs. You will also find a cover song, "The Heart of Worship," sung by his granddaughter, Allyson. Other music will be arriving soon.
Sarge has recently collaborated with Stuart Doherty (Stubert Studios) in producing 2 EP's for his daughter Missy Bennett. Missy wrote all the songs that you can hear on her "Finding God," and "Light Of The World" CD's.
Give them a listen and let him know what you think.
